Fat Bitch E-Course Week 1

I have started an e-course from the lovely NearSighted Owl, titled "How to Be a Fat Bitch". In Rachelle's words "A fat bitch is confident, out-spoken and proud of who she is.The course is free, comes with an assignment each week and discussion in the comments.

I'm starting a little late, but I'm going to start at week one and see how I go. This week is about not viewing yourself as having given up. Don't let people shame you for existing in a fat body. I like the quote she included from Lesley Kinzel "The people who get angriest about fat girls looking good and feeling hot are the people who are the most strongly invested in the idea that a person has to be skinny in order to be happy, healthy, and loved."

The assignment this week is to write down five things that you are going to do to make you happy. Five things for yourself and your well-being. This is what I came up with:

1. Paint my nails
I have lots of pretty polishes, and rarely bother to take the time to paint them. But when I do make the effort, they make me smile when I look at them. So I want to do this more.

2. Play my guitar
My acoustic guitar has been sitting in my room being neglected for a long time. Time to get it and sing, and feel happy.

3. Play Just Dance on the Wii more often
I find Just Dance (1 and 2) fun, and should make the time to do it more often, as there's not much movement I enjoy. My fav song is Big Girls You Are Beautiful, which has a fat lady on screen to copy (awesome).

4. Have a try at making a skirt
I have had plans to try a basic skirt with elastic waist for ages, but keep being too worried about failing to even try it. I even bought some cute cheap vintage pattern sheets to try out my skirt on to encourage me. Must just jump in and have a try.

5. Dye my hair more often
Another self care thing that I tend to put off, but I feel so good when I get around to it. I have a dark purply tinged dye waiting in the bathroom right now.

I'm going to try and do most of these things this week, and then move onto Week Two.
Thank you Rachelle for such a great Ecourse idea!

Aussie Curves- Body Con

So, the body con theme is upon us. I was a little nervous about this week. I only have one body con (body conscious, form fitting) dress, so choosing an outfit was easy, putting it on was hard. I checked myself out in the mirror when I was done, and thought I actually looked pretty good. I'm working on loving my VBO this week (visible belly outline) so this dress is helping.

This dress is from Asos Curve, I bought it with the intention of layering stuff over it in the winter. It's very comfy. I needed some colour with this outfit of course, so I chose my loudest necklace, sunnies and my cute shoes.

I've never seen the back of me before. I like it!

Aussie Curves- Yellow

I had a yellow top all picked out for this week's yellow challenge, but then this lovely dress came in the mail from the Asos sales and I had to show it off. I love the flower print, I feel like I'm wearing a garden. This yellow handbag from Kmart brought out the yellow in the dress a bit more, and I painted my nails too!

The dress is a lovely soft jersey, very comfortable. I went for the higher size instead of my usual 24, and was happy with the fit, even though it's a little big up top. I like the 3/4 sleeves, will be great for the inbetween Autumn weather.

I tried painting my nails yellow but the polish was too thin and it didn't work. I was happy with my second attempt- Opi's Blue My Mind and my son's glitter gold polish he bought from the local chemist with his pocket money. I love the blue/yellow combo.

Aussie Curves- Retro

Hello lovely readers! I haven't been posting for a little while, I know. I took a break over the Christmas holidays, planning to start again when the kids went back to school. Mr 5 started school for the first time (leaving me with no kids at home for the first time), and I found myself quite teary and depressed for a while, which I wasn't expecting. I had trouble finding motivation to get back into the routine of outfit photos. But with this week being retro theme, I knew I had to make the effort for I love retro and I had the perfect dress to show you. And yes, I do wear this outfit out in public, just minus the gloves. I wore it out to coffee with friends the other day.

I found this gorgeous dress at my local shop, Catfight Collections (which have an online shop so you should totally check them out). This dress was only a 20, which is not my size at all but there was some give in the fabric, and I decided to give it a go. It fitted me perfectly, and I used my birthday money to buy it, so I think of it as my birthday dress.

I don't usually wear the dress as a halterneck but I thought I would for the photos. Usually I pin the straps to the back. I always wear a red bra with straps, so if it shows it looks like it belongs to the dress anyway.

Both the gloves and the petticoat come from Domino Dollhouse, and are awesome. I have three petticoats from Domino Dollhouse now. It's a bit addictive.

Gloves require an "I'm a little teapot pose". Yes they do.

This photo made me laugh- looks like I have wind machine going on here (just normal Newcastle weather).
Polka dot Diva coming through!

The red beads are from the op shop, and I think they're something other than the normal plastic because they're rather heavy. The earrings are from Big W and my headband is hand made from The Olive Tree Markets. It's good to be back!
