Aussie Curves- Knits

I love it when an outfit I put together in my head looks great on. This week our Aussie Curves challenge was knits. I decided to go full-on everything knit, and to pull out my rainbow socks for their first wear.

Knitted dress is from Asos Curve. I have it in red too, I bought it on clearance and though it is prone to pilling it's a great comfy dress. And a nice neutral palette for showing off my rainbow cardigan and socks. My cardy was given to me by a friend (it was too bright for her) and I love the mix of pink and red, with pops of green and turquoise.

The fabulous socks are from Sock Dreams. They pull up to under my knee, and didn't fall down at all (I wore them the whole day). I think they would go higher on smaller legs. A bit pain of pain was involved in getting them up my legs- the top cuff is very tight and didn't want to stretch over my 20 inch calves. But once I got them over the biggest part they were fine.

Going with the rainbow theme, I pulled out one of my favourite necklaces, a unicorn from a local pin-up style shop, Catfight Collections. They have an online shop and are worth checking out.

Polka Dot Peplum

Today's outfit is showing off my new Asos Curve purchase- a polka dot peplum top. It's a thick cotton fabric, hugs my top nicely. The polka dots are a little strange- they seem painted on and are a bit rough to the touch. I would prefer if they were printed on or flocked. This is my first venture into the peplum trend- I like the shape it creates. I'm looking for a pencil skirt to try out with it.

The weather was cool enough to need a cardigan but I didn't want spoil the line of the top. So thanks to Lilli from Frocks and Frou Frou who shared her tip with me- button the cardigan together at the back. It holds the cardigan on, but bares the line of the top. Great idea Lilli. All I did was button the last button together.

I'm wearing my stripey socks from Sock Dreams. These extraordinary long thigh highs do go over my knee but they don't stay there! To try and combat the rolling down effect I trialed some sock garters.

Unfortunately while they slow the rolling down process they don't stop it, and are pretty uncomfortable to wear. Next I'm going to try a garter belt and see if that helps.

One of my favourite necklaces is this unicorn one- from my local shop Catfight Collections. They have an online shop so go have a look if you're into pin-up/ rockabilly stuff. They have loads of cute hair bows and shoes too.

Once again my Etsy TARDIS earrings make an appearance.

Sweet Like Candy

I now have a tripod (woohoo) thanks to my Dad, who bought one about 40 years ago and never used it. Obviously I still have lots to learn about where in the sun to stand, but at least you now have another outfit post. Outside, even!

I wanted to put together a fun and cute outfit, and after discovering the Etsy shop Em & Sprout, I knew of the perfect t-shirt to pull it all together. This shirt goes up to a 2x, which is around an Aus size 22. If you have bigger boobs than me (DD) and am a size 22, you might find the shirt pulls across the chest a bit. It does a little with me, but not enough to cause any issues. I love the colour and the cute print. I have a fondness for graphic tees, especially geeky ones, but have so much trouble finding any in plus sizes, let alone in colours other than black or white. Threadless, why you no make the plus sizes for women?!

My gorgeous stripey socks came from Sock Dreams, and were a bit of a splurge. I love them, they're very roomy stretch-wise, and they come to halfway up my thighs. The down side is that they roll down, but I'm trying to solve the problem- I've ordered some sock garters. The other socks in the order fit too (except the marone ones) and you may see them in future outfit posts.

Like my hair flower? I got it from Best and Less, along with some more colours. I love the shape and how it sits on my hair. Crocodile clips work so well on my thick slippery hair, better than hair clips.
