Aussie Curves- Resort

This week's outfit challenge is resort- and I used the opportunity to also play catch-up by using this as my swimwear theme post too. These swimmers were part of a save-up buy earlier in the year. I purchased a bikini, a short swim skirt, and the swim skirt you see me wearing, from Land's End. They were on special, of course.

I'm quite happy with the bikini top, it has adjustable straps, padded cups and underwire, so it's basically like wearing a bra. I haven't worn it to the beach yet, so I can't say whether it's uncomfortable to swim in. My size is DD, and I ordered a 22W size, which fit perfectly. The swim skirt has inbuilt undies, so I'll be able to mix and match with other tops.

I can't say that I'm completely comfortable wearing swimmers yet, but I'm on the way there.

Aussie Curves (catch up)- Black and White

I'm playing Aussie Curves challenge catch up at the moment, now my child is home from hospital and I'm feeling sufficiently recovered. I had my outfit all planned for black and white- not my usual colour scheme, but sometimes a pattern is loud enough that I'll reconsider the lack of colour. Also, I can't resist polka dots.

This dress is from Asos Curve. It's comfortable and a good length. This is a 24, but if you have boobs bigger than a DD cup, you may want to size up. It's just a teeny bit tight on top on me.

I had fun finding accessories to match this dress. The sunnies and white hair flower are from Kmart, and my lovely polka dot feather earrings were made for me for my birthday. The bag was an op shop find.

Aussie Curves- Yellow

This week's Aussie Curves challenge is yellow. I had stayed away from yellow before joining Aussie Curves, now I'm so glad I tried it out. Yellow is such a fun cheery colour. I picked up this cardigan at the op shop, and decided to use it for the challenge. The cardigan is too small to button up, but as I tend to wear a lot of cardigans unbuttoned, I got it anyway. The shoulders and arms fit, so we're all good.

The dress is a swing dress from Asos Curve, I wore it unbelted for the "vulnerable side" challenge (here). This is how I usually wear it- belted in.

My earrings are from Coles, the badges from the op shop and Blackbird's Corner.

Now that my son is all better and home from hospital, I'm looking forward to catching up on Aussie Curves challenges. I have black and white ready to go, so you should see it here next week.

Orange is the New Neutral

Hi everyone, just posting a quick outfit that I took weeks ago, to reassure you that I'm still here. My six year old has been in hospital with pneumonia, and I've been sleeping there with him, so I haven't been able to do any outfit posts. My son is all better now, I feel like I'm still recovering and trying to get my head around the usual routines. I will get back to more regular outfits though, I promise.

This dress has become a favourite, I picked it up at Big W. It doesn't crease or wrinkle, and it's very comfortable to wear. I have nicknamed it my conservative dress, since I seem to end up wearing it to appointments, and the navy blue is subdued for me.

My orange cardigan is also from Big W. I'm starting to amass a small collection of them. I have found that for me, orange is a neutral, as it goes with so many of my outfits. It's a little longer than I like my cardigans, but the colour is great.

I love how my shoes carry on the navy matchy theme. My hair clip was sent to me from my lovely internet friend, Kath. It goes great with my orange things.

Aussie Curves- Pink

I used to stay away from pink, but now I love it. Another bright fun colour to add to my repertoire. This dress was part of a save-up-for lot online. I bought some swimmers on sale from Land's End. This dress was on sale too, so I tossed it in my shopping cart. The material is a soft comfortable cotton jersey, but thicker than the usual ones I buy from Asos. It drapes and hangs well. It's a little big and gapey under the arms, but I plan to fix that with some stitches at some point. I decided to pair the pink with my mint cardigan (I'm getting quite a nice collection of them from Big W).

Aussie Curves- Stripes

I love a bit of stripe, though my favourite pattern is polka dots. Most of my stripes I've already worn on the blog. I decided to go with my rainbow stripe tunic/dress, which I've already worn here, and show you how I wear it in the summer weather.

Technically this is a tunic, but I find it just long enough to wear as a dress with my trusty bike pants underneath. I got this dress on sale for $20 at Autograph (old season). As soon as I saw it I knew it was coming home with me. Rainbow colours are awesome.

I'm wearing a belt from Autograph with it. I love these elastic type belts, they are so comfy to wear. And the beauty of the rainbow colours is that I can pair any accessories with it and they match.

Aussie Curves- Festival

I'm taking this week's theme to mean what would I wear to a festival. I've only been to one music festival, which was the jazz festival at Morpeth. You'll never find me at festivals like the Big Day Out, crowds of people freak me out. I'd much rather listen to music in small settings, like the local pub band. Not that I get to go to that stuff since becoming a single mum. I'm pretty happy listening to music in my loungeroom. But anyway, if I was going to a festival, I'd wear comfy clothes. Stuff that holds up to sweat and dirt. Sleeves and sunglasses, for a bit of sun protection. Non dangly earrings, supportive shoes for any dancing that may occur. And my usual pop of colour.

I just picked up this tee from Best and Less for $6. Score! My shorts are from Autograph a while back, and I wear them a lot in the warm weather. So far they're holding up nicely, and don't ride up my legs when I walk.

Aussie Curves- Tee

I'm a fan of t-shirts, so I had a few to choose from for this week's challenge. Finding plus size tees that fit nicely is difficult however. My favourite tee in terms of fit is my Astroboy shirt from Cafepress. But in terms of geeky options, Red Bubble is great. I have a Firefly t-shirt from them, and a Doctor Who shirt, which I'm showing you today.

I like wearing tees tucked into skirts- this one is from Asos Curve. This tee is a big high necked for my liking, and a little baggy, but I love all my different Doctor Who guys on the front. Many thanks to my twitter friend AnIdleDad, who gave me an idea of which size to try. The sizing chart is a little confusing, as it gives measurements across the front of the chest rather all the way around. I average a size 22-24 on the top, and I tried a 3xl. It definitely fitted, it was even a little roomy up top.

I like a good blue and red combo, so I went with matching cardigan and my red shoes.

Showing you a close up of my flower headband, and my Tardis earrings. What else would you wear with Doctor Who right? Now all I need is the sweet sound of the Tardis in my garden.

Here's some of other tees that I've tried out.
