Comic Print Dress

I am still waiting for the stars to align (ie stop raining) to do my usual Aussie Curves post. However, I have some other photos to share with you that I took over a week ago, then my internet ran out for the month and I was blogless for a little while. I've been looking forward to sharing this fabulous comic print dress from Yours Clothing with you. I put aside a little bit of money each fortnight ($10) so now and then I can indulge in a expensive (for me) clothes purchase. Usually I spend it on Domino Dollhouse clothes, but this dress was too amazing to pass up.

This dress is so me- fun and obnoxiously colourful. And in the skater style that I like. I kept the accessories pretty simple, my usual hair flower, bow belt from Asos Curve and yellow handbag.

The material is polyester, but a nice thick fabric with a bit of stretch that feels sturdy. I ordered my usual 24 and it fitted fine, except for squashing my boobs a little. If you're bigger than a DD cup you might want to size up.

I'm trying to show you a close up of the amazing fabric, there's so much going on in it, and every time I look at it I see something new.

Aussie Curves- Boho

Boho style has hippy type connotations for me, and it's a style I'm pretty comfortable with. I'd have more pieces in this style if I could find them. Flowy dresses and skirts, lots of colour and flowers- I'm a fan. The trouble was, most of my hippy type outfits are meant for the warm months, sandal weather. This dress I'm showing you I usually wear with some denim shorts and a pretty coloured underwire bra but it's just too cold to take off that many layers. So I'm pairing the dress with long sleeve shirt and leggings. Not as nice, but much warmer!

This dress is an old one from Domino Dollhouse. It's too short for me, hence why I usually pair it with shorts. It'd made of a soft stretchy cotton, and is so cool to wear in summer. I love the patchwork patterns on it.

I don't have a flower crown, but I decided to attempt a similar thing by putting a bunch of flower clips on my head. The necklace is from my local artisan market, I like how it brings out the turquoise colours in the dress.

My flower ring is from the same markets. If you're ever in Newcastle on the first Saturday of the month, come check out The Olive Tree Markets- they have great stuff.

Aussie Curves- Spikes

I don't have much stuff with spikes, only a couple of accessories. I decided to put them with a peplum/pencil skirt combo. I'm trying out a more serious expression here just for a change. It's not really me though.

Ah that's better! My spike necklace was obtained through a mistake- I ordered the cosmic triangle necklace from Domino Dollhouse and received this spiky triangle instead. When I contacted them they sent me out the right necklace, and I got to keep the mistake. Great service.

My spike bracelet is from Asos. I like the silver tone, and being an elastic kind, there's a good chance it will fit my wrist.

My peplum top is from City Chic, picked up when on sale. I like the thick material, seems to be the kind that will last a while. I'd usually wear it with a belt, but I wanted to keep attention on the necklace. The skirt is actually a bodycon dress from Asos Curve. The material is too thin to wear as is, so I use it for layering.

Aussie Curves- Green

It was hard choosing a green outfit for this week's challenge, because I like green and most of my outfits are already on my blog. I finally decided on this dress from Millers. I love the pattern, it reminds me of stained glass windows and the 70s. Random I know. This dress comes out in cool weather, as the polyester type fabric is fairly warm. I stuck some leggings on too as it was cold.

It's a pretty loud pattern, so I felt like keeping it simple with a hair flower and some earrings.

Unicorns and Galaxies

Finally, I manage an outfit post that isn't Aussie Curves! The weather got chilly enough to try out my galaxy print leggings from Domino Dollhouse. I thought an equally bright shirt needed to happen, and here we are.

My unicorn top is from an Etsy shop called Em and Sprout. Their 2x isn't quite big enough, it's a bit tight over my boobs and shoulders, but they don't go any higher in size, and I really wanted it. The print is so cute, and I've started liking pink things.

I got a 3x in the leggings but I think I went too big. They fit fine on my legs, but they are a bit loose around my hips. The leggings are a low cut, they come up to under my belly button. They are riding down a bit when I wear them, 'cos of the loose fit and low cut. I still love them though.

Had to show you a close up of my earrings, they are the cutest little strawberries. I got them half price from Big W.

Aussie Curves: Leggings

I'm looking forward to Mondays, I get to do an Aussie Curves challenge!
This week is leggings. Leggings are a vital part of my winter wardrobe. I don't have any bright prints or crazy patterns yet, but I do have a bunch of coloured ones from Autograph. I'm wearing the purple/berry colour today.

I'm inbetween the M and L size in leggings at Autograph. I get the M so they don't get too baggy- the stitching tends to get wrecked around the waistband over time though. The tunic top is also from Autograph- I love the swirly colours and the pockets.

The long sleeve top is a cheapie from Big W and just happens to match my leggings.

These new shoes are a big deal for me- they actually have a bit of a heel. I like the flowers on them, and the colour should go with lots of stuff. The lining is leather, which is a bargain considering they were $25 from Big W.

To be totally honest, I only wore them for the photos- I still feel too wobbly on them to wear them out. But I'm going to practice. The way the heel is raised, they feel more like high flats than heels. There doesn't seem to be too much pressure on the front of foot- but we'll see.

Love my new hair flower from Target. I tried out some Sally Hansen nail strips today, you can see the results below. They took about the same amount of time to put on as painting my nails. I love the hippy pattern, it will be interesting to see how long they last. I put Opi Chip Skip underneath, and Sally Hansen Diamond Top Coat over the top.

Aussie Curves: Bold Nails

This week's theme for our Aussie Curves challenge is bold nails. I've just gotten back into painting my nails after a long hiatus. I was sick of them chipping when I so much as looked at them. Now with the additional steps of buffing the nail surface, applying Opi's Chip Skip, and finishing with a good brand top coat, I've been able to make the polish last long enough to bother with doing it.
I looked at my nail colours and decided that the boldest colour for me is fushia pink. Pink is a recent addition to my wardrobe. I've slowly come around to it, and recently acquired enough wardrobe pieces to create a pink outfit.

This dress is a recent purchase from Asos Curve. My boys have renamed it "Mummy's kissy dress." I love that. The material is a sort of slippery cotton, comfy and bright. It was sold out of my usual size (24) so I tried a 26, figuring I could always belt it in. Thankfully I did, as the dress fit my body perfectly.

I paired the dress with long-sleeves and my favourite star-print leggings from Autograph. I'm finding that the star print is so subtle, that I can pair it with pretty much anything. I wore my domino necklace that a friend made for me, tying it in with the polka dot print background on the dress.

I love my new shoes, I picked them from Big W recently (from the men's section as usual). All the different black and white patterns hanging out together on this outfit is fun!

I'm loving these Aussie Curves Challenges, they're inspiring me to post more often. Check out below what the other ladies have come up with.

Aussie Curves: Boots Challenge

Thanks to the wonderful Danimezza, I'm now part of an Australian plus size blogging community, and we have started doing a challenge together each week. This week is boots, and as I only have one pair, this was easy! Apologies for the photo quality- in my backyard there was the option of full sun where you couldn't see me, or shade, which is what I went with.

I have wanted boots for a long time, but only found my pair last year at Autograph. They were a new venture for them, having not sold footwear before. They sold out quickly, and I was overjoyed to find a pair of boots to fit my problematic legs. My calves are very wide (50 cm), I can't stand heels (I have very flat feet) and my feet are size 11. So shoe shopping is usually problematic and annoying for me. I had given up on boots until I came across these, and they ticked all the boxes.

I paired them with my jersey dress from Asos Curve, which is comfy and bright. It picks up lint from my jackets badly and has funny seams over my boobs, but I forgive all because bright colours. I'm wearing a new belt from Asos Curve. I like belts, but you see my problem with them in the photos, it just can't stay around my natural waist. It likes to ride up. Yes on my blog, I tell you about the annoying things my clothes do.

I hope you enjoyed my first Aussie Curves post, and that you check out some of the other ladies' awesome efforts. Autograph boots are currently half price so I recommend you check them out online and in-store.
