A little more challenging was the theme of pastels this week. I usually stick to bright, rich jewel tones in my clothes, they're what I'm drawn to. However, knowing that pastels was coming up, I picked up this dress from Asos Curve back when it was on sale.
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed wearing this lovely lavender purple. I'm a fan of purple, but had never tried out this shade before. The swishy skirt was made even better by the addition of a Domino Dollhouse petticoat in lavender. I love how the frill just sticks out around the bottom of the dress. I felt quite girly and pretty wearing this outfit, I wore it to a late birthday lunch with one of my friends that didn't make it to my birthday dinner. Domino Dollhouse petticoats are so soft and comfortable to wear, despite it being a warm day I wasn't uncomfortable.
Yes I know I should have ironed the dress. But is was hot and sticky weather and I just couldn't be bothered. I paired the dress with my pretty wedge sandals from Big W.
In wearing the pastel colour I needed a different shade of lipstick, and found a new shade that I love! I'll have to look for it at the shops (its an old small sample lipstick back when I did Avon, so I need a decent substitute). If not for the dress I would never have tried it, so yay! You may have noticed that a hair flower is a signature style for me. As eclectic as my outfits get, I nearly always wear a hair flower. These pretty ones are from Best and Less.
Necklace used to be my Grandma's. Earrings are from Big W. I put the brooch on (a gift from a friend) as the neckline is way lower than I'm comfortable with. I'll put a few stitches in it later.

What a lovely lavender outfit! :) Domino Dollhouse petticoats are the best. I have them in light pink, mint green, and yellow, and would love to get lavender someday!
ReplyDeleteThey're kind of addictive, aren't they? I have lavender, purple and red so far. :-)
DeleteLovely outfit you look very sweet in this!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ezmae! xx
DeleteLovely Lavender! I really think I need a petticoat in my life.
ReplyDeleteYou totally do! Domino Dollhouse make the best petticoats. :-)
DeleteThe brooch and the necklace are such lovely pieces.. the perfect match between the dress and petticoat is a great combo too..
ReplyDeleteThanks! I was so excited when I realised how well the petti and dress matched, I don't think I'll ever wear that dress without it.
DeleteI just love tulle. I was at a Kasey Chambers concert on the 31st and she had a tulle skirt on. Gosh I am already starting to forget what it looked like. The necklace looks lovely. I want to buy something tulle so this is all very interesting, thank you.
ReplyDeleteYou should def look into Domino Dollhouse petticoats if you want something that is tulle-like, but not stiff and scratchy. :-)
DeleteAh, I don't think it is tulle, wow, I have seen other pretty things that aren't tulle too, all this kind of stuff is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteYup it isn't tulle, it's lots of layers of chiffon and lace. It makes for a puffy but not scratchy or uncomfortable petti. I love them :-)
DeleteYou're soooo gorgeous. Beautiful photos and loving your makeup and hair flowers this week. They're gorgeous. xox
ReplyDeleteAw thanks, I'm loving them too! Always excited to find new colours and new lipstick I can wear. :-)

ReplyDeletewords cannot describe how completely jealous i am of your gorgeous eyes! *sigh* i wish i could trade you!
ReplyDeletelol but on topic that is an amazing colour and a great dress, looks fantastic on you xx
Aw thanks! My eyes are funny, they usually turn out green in close up photos, look dark in far back photos, and when I look in a mirror inside they usually look blue/grey. Now I've tried the lavender colour I'll def be looking for more clothes that colour. :-)
DeleteLol thanks, I don't always plan ahead, but I knew pastels would be tricky. :-)
ReplyDeleteI am so in love with this outfit-but I also love ALL shades of purple. The color is so fantastic on you and really makes the color of your eyes pop.
